Philippines, my Philippines!

31. March 2011

I’ve been living here for so long and still nothing major has happened that will improve our lives.  Prices of everything is soaring high, food, water, electricity, lpg, and everything else!! It didn’t matter to me before, but since I started “budgeting” our monthly expenses, it has become a major factor in all things I’ve to do.

We’ve to face the reality that majority of the families living in this country belong to the lower class groups, and it’s sad when we hear news about these Generals having several real estates both here and abroad.  Do they ever think about the poor?

We’ve so many college graduates who are unemployed simply because there aren’t any jobs being offered, or because these college graduates aren’t ready enough, aren’t competent enough for the position being offered for.

Most flee the country to find a better paying job, they do this for their families.  And what do they get in return? Maltreatment of employers, stuck in a war and worst, Lethal Injections. So much for a better future.

The Philippines is a beautiful country, it has so much to offer to the world, and too bad it’s like this now.  Full of corrupts, poverty, discrimination and everything else in between.  I hope things turn around for the Philippines, where speaking in Tagalog is acceptable to the elites, people seated in power and the ordinary ones.  Yes, it’s nice that we can, and we are good, in using the English language, but I just can’t see the Philippines emerge from all these chaos if we do not even accept to use our own language.  Just look around you, celebs, people in politics, more tv personalities, bands, street vendors, trike drivers and of course you and I “showing” love to our country through shirts, jackets and all those things, while in fact we hardly show love and respect to our own language.

It’s not humiliating to use Tagalog everyday, using the English language doesn’t make you smarter either.  One should not be judged by the way he pronounces a word, so what right? We’re Filipinos after all, why laugh at your fellow Filipino, help ‘em instead.

Some Pinoys think they are smarter, some Pinoys think they are richer, some Pinoys think they are better than the rest, but whatever you think that you are, you’re still Pinoy just like the rest of us, so help us instead.
